Elementary Lesson Outline: The Science Around Us
Discovering God's World and nJoy General Science
This year we will cover a variety of science topics that relate to the world around us. Both age groups will follow the same syllabus, however, the details and approach will be different for each. This allows families to read and learn together at home on the same topics.
We will begin the year focusing on some important practical skills that children need to be successful science students, along with this we will learn about some basic physical science concepts.
We will then do several lessons on science related to our bodies - our senses and nutrition. We will move into a section on ecology - the science of our environment, and will learn about many of the environmental regions of our world. If you wish, this is a good opportunity to pull in some geography practice at home as well. We will finish up with a lesson on our closest neighbor in space - our moon.
After each lesson a follow up "handout" will be posted online. This will contain an overview of what we covered in the lesson and provide you with suggestions for further follow up activities at home. You can also refer to the reading list through out the year.
