NC recommendations for high school graduation are that a student complete 3 science credits:
- a biological science,
- a physical science
- environmental science (formerly earth/environmental science) (see here)
The minimum entrance requirements for the University of North Carolina are that a student have completed three course units in science, including
- at least one unit in a life or biological science (for example, biology),
- at least one unit in physical science (for example, physical science, chemistry, physics), and
at least one laboratory course. (see here)
